Dear Old House
Dear House,
I just wanted to say “thank you.” For taking me in and giving me shelter. For warm winter fires and cool summer breezes. For snow drifts and icicles. For crocus and lilies of the valley and daisies and roses. For squirrels and birds and that one little chipmunk that came to say goodbye. For surprises and treasures from basement and barn, attic and cupboard. For your amazing light and all the photo ops. For fulfilling some lifelong yearnings over the past seven and a half months.
‘Bye, House. I’ll never forget you.

This is such a warm and comforting picture. How sad that you have moved out. I haven’t been on-line much this year so if you’ve talked about moving, I’m not aware of the reason why you moved out of this lovely home. I agree with Carol Craley’s comment. And might I ad that your home is where your heart is and I’ve seen that you have a knack to make your home where ever you are. Good luck with all the change this move brings and I look forward to seeing new pictures of your new home. Happy summer!

I knew my stay would be temporary when I moved in last fall. I needed a place to stay when I moved back from California, and my daughter already lived upstairs in this house. The owners kindly offered me the downstairs over the winter, with the understanding that the house would be going on the market in the spring. Now I’ve moved into a permanent (I hope) place of my own. I’m very tired of boxes!

How touching, how lovely – all that this old house meant to you on your return to Maine. It sounds like it was the perfect place to come home to.

Beautiful post! I fell in love with the house, too! Old windows, beautiful lighting, gorgeous floors. I know you’ll miss it, but I also know that very soon you’ll be at home in your apartment and we’ll be seeing the beauty of where you’re living now!

Lovely letter, lovely old house. I guess I didn’t realize that Jen lived upstairs. I totally pictured her living somewhere else, some place more rustic and with a deck. (I’m not sure why.) Happy getting settled in your new home!

This is a lovely interior. I was captured half a year ago and I hope you enjoy your new apartment – and hopefully you life is not in a box any more. 🙂
